You swipe down to clear a pile of notifications and the "Clear all" button is just… gone. This is common after an Android update or on phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus, which each handle the control differently. Here's what's happening and how to clear everything anyway.
Why the button disappears
- OEM placement: some skins move "Clear all" into a long-press menu or the three-dot menu at the top of the shade instead of a visible button.
- Nothing to clear: if every notification is ongoing (like a persistent music or VPN alert), there may be no dismissible items, so the button hides.
- Launcher setting: a third-party launcher can hide or reposition the action.
Clear without the button
- Open the notification shade and look for a trash / clear icon at the bottom or in the three-dot menu.
- On many phones, long-press one notification → a "Clear all" or "Manage" option appears.
- If your ROM supports it, add a clear-notifications quick-settings tile (edit the Quick Settings panel).

Clearing vs history
